Friday December 13, 3-6 pm
The Periphery – Knees, Ankles & Feet, and Elbows, Wrists & Hands. This session will look at the anatomy and common problems in the lower legs and lower arms, and the therapeutic benefits of yoga to give you a solid and safe foundation on your feet or your hands.
Saturday December 14 10am-1:15 pm
The Spine and Lower Back. This session will address the most common lower back problems such as musculoskeletal tension, disc herniation, sacro-iliac dysfunction and sciatica. We will highlight the do’s and don’t’s for each condition, giving clear guidelines for a safe practice and adjustments to refine the poses for best results.
The Lower Back Practice only 12:15-1:15
You may sign up for the last hour of this session to learn a practice sequence for the lower back with Ellen, assisted by Registered Yoga Teachers.
Saturday 2:30-5:30pm
The Physiology of Relaxation. Illustrated lecture on the stress response and the relaxation response, plus experiential session with Kinetic Awareness (self-massage by rolling on little rubber balls!), pranayama and restorative yoga poses.
Sunday December 15, 10-1
The Shoulders and Neck. This session will focus on common problems associated with the neck and shoulders, including rotator cuff injuries and pinched nerves. We will review the relevant anatomy, and practice observing and assisting each other for optimal alignment.
